The Field Schools Hub Knowledge Sharing Events
The Eastern Africa Field Schools Hub is “a Centre of excellence for Field Schools (FS) implementation and quality control.” It was launched on 30th May 2018 in Entebbe, Uganda. Currently the hub is hosted by the Africa Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) www.afaas-africa.org , and is implemented in 11 countries (EAC and IGAD).
The overall goal is to contribute to increased capacity of vulnerable farmers and agro pastoralists to enhance their livelihoods and productive capacity.
The specific mandates are –
• Institutionalization of the FS methodology
• Incubation of FS best practices
• Policy dialogue and advocacy
• Quality control of the FS learning process
• Knowledge sharing and dissemination
• Accreditation and validation of trainers
• Partnerships and resource mobilization
• Monitoring and evaluation
The Field Schools Hub conducts weekly zoom webinars every Wednesday from 1000 -1100 EA time. The order of each zoom meeting is an official welcome from the FSH coordinator, followed by self-introduction of participants in the chat box. The presenter of the day, then takes stage. The presentations normally do not exceed 30 minutes. The last 15 minutes are spent on questions and answers.
