Field Schools are not a new approach in Africa. Thousands of Field Schools have been implemented throughout the Eastern Africa region since the 90’s when they were first introduced.
While the Field Schools became more popular, new challenges arose in regards to how to maintain the quality of Field Schools implementation while scaling up,ensuring learning and networking among actors and also ensuring that there are links between field level practice and policy and strategic development.
To meet this challenge, the Eastern Africa Filed Schools Hub (EAFSH) was formed in June 2016 hosted by the Field and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Kenya. The role of the hub is to facilitate knowledge generation and sharing across actors in the sub-region and provide catalytic support to countries and actors for enhanced quality of FS interventions.
